"DIAMONDS" dimensions 8 1/2 x 8 1/2
The woods are: The sides: tamo. The top is a combination of tamo,
Brazilian rosewood, Indian rosewood, teak, koa, African cherry, holly,
benin (but not necessarily in that order!) |
This one is called "THE FIVE BOX" for rather obvious reasons.
And one that is a nightmare to make. Getting the central box perfect is
next to impossible. It appears in Tony Lydgate's book "The Art of Making
Elegant Jewelry Boxes". The dimensions are 9 x 9 (each corner box is 3
x 3) and the woods are macassar ebony, benin and English brown oak. |
"FRANK" (after Frank Lloyd Wright) dimensions 8 x 8 and is my homage
to him and the design he created for a concrete block in the Ennis house
in southern California. The woods are: imbuya, holly, movingui, Indian
rosewood, teak, macassar ebony, sycamore, primavera and avodire. |
"TURKISH KNOT" dimensions 4 x 11.
This design I "borrowed" from the ceiling of a mosque in Konya,
Turkey, the home of the world famous Whirling Dervishes. The woods
are redwood burl and holly. |
