July 26-30, 2010 Marc Adams School of Woodworking 5504 East 500 North Franklin, IN 46131 VENEERING: START TO FINISH July 26th through July 30th, 2010 Jonathan Benson Have you ever considered using fine veneers, but thought that the process was just too complicated, intimidating, or that it might take too long to learn? This class will take the mystery out of veneering allowing beginners to create beautiful matched patterns and elegant designs right away. Students with experience will also learn many new tips and techniques. You will leave with several usable projects, a veneer shooter for cutting veneer and the expertise to create many projects at home. Each participant will create a basic book match and then progress through four-, eight-, and twelve way matches. You will learn to inlay these patterns into other veneers to create panels that can be used for many types of projects. Several methods for cutting, joining, pressing and finishing
will be presented which will enable you to create projects in variety of
different situations depending on your specific shop and tools. You
will learn the process of hammer veneering with PVA glue, which requires
no press or clamps at all. There will be detailed descriptions of
substrates, adhesives, finishing and the repair of both new work and antique
veneers.
