A Simple Way to Trim Veneer

Step 3

Turn the veneer for the next cut. This is the cut WITH the grain of the wood. Remember to reposition the base board so your saw doesn't follow a grove made by previous cuts. Also remember to measure the face of the straight edge as before, to insure a perfect 90 degree cut through the veneer. If you are cutting multiple layers of veneer, make sure the stack hasn't shifted. You can use masking tape on the edges or double sided tape between layers for more control. Another way to hold the veneers is to staple or pin them in line (on the waste sides of the stack).
